Fugue features in Opera dozen
The Fugue has been given an entry in the Prix de l'Opera as an alternative to the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe at Longchamp on Sunday.
Already a dual Group One winner this year having clinched the Yorkshire Oaks and most recently the Irish Champion Stakes, The Fugue could head to France this weekend if conditions are suitable for a filly who prefers a sound surface.
While the Arc has always been her intended target, she has the option of keeping to her own sex in the 10-furlong Opera, a prestigious Group One prize in its own right.
The Fugue is one of four British-trained entries in the race, with Ralph Beckett leaving in Secret Gesture, the runner-up in both the English and German Oaks before finishing third behind The Fugue at York.
Roger Charlton's Thistle Bird and the Paul Cole-trained Gifted Girl complete the potential raiding party.
Dalkala and Sarkiyla are two significant contenders for trainer Alain de Royer-Dupre and leading owner the Aga Khan.
The 12-strong field is completed by Pagera, Tasaday, Red Lips, Sparkling Beam, Silasol and Eleuthera.
