Fugue firing ahead of Dubai

John Gosden says the mild winter has allowed The Fugue to have a smooth preparation ahead of her first target at the Dubai World Cup meeting.

Lord Lloyd-Webber's filly made great progress as a four-year-old, winning both the Yorkshire Oaks and Irish Champion Stakes as well as finishing second in the Breeders' Cup Turf and Hong Kong Vase.

The Dubai Racing Club have The Fugue in their likely field for the Dubai World Cup itself, although the Sheema Classic has also been mentioned as an option.

"She's in good form," Gosden told At The Races. "Obviously it's early in the year for fillies but she worked nicely (at the weekend) and we're very pleased and happy with her.

"Dar Re Mi in same ownership went there and won the Sheema Classic and did it out of the ice and cold. This winter, as we all know, has been a very different one altogether. We've been lucky to have been able to move along quite normally with her."
