Gabashvili to meet Kohlschreiber

Teymuraz Gabashvili beat Dusan Lajovic in three sets to set up a second-round meeting with Philipp Kohlschreiber at the Dusseldorf Open.

The Russian world number 60 lost the first set to Serbia's Lajovic but rallied to win 3-6 6-3 6-4.

Tackling fourth-seeded Joao Souza of Portugal will be Jurgen Melzer after the Austrian dispatched Spain's Pablo Carreno Busta 6-4 6-1.

Eighth seed Igor Sijsling of Holland made an early exit thanks to Jiri Vesely - the Czech player claimed a 7-6 (7/2) 6-3 victory at Rochusclub.

Dustin Brown provided a late shock on Monday by eliminating fifth seed Lu Yen-hsun. The South Korean forced a tie-break in the first set but slumped to a 7-6 (7/3) 6-2 loss.

Elsewhere, Nikola Milojevic needed two hours and three minutes to beat Mirza Basic 6-2 5-7 6-4.
