Garcia makes final-day push

Jamie Donaldson's victory bid at the Nedbank Golf Challenge was coming under threat from an inspired Sergio Garcia in Sun City on Sunday.

The Welshman started the final day with a three-shot lead but that had been completely erased by the turn as Spaniard Garcia picked up six birdies over the opening nine holes to come right into contention.

Garcia has blown hot and cold so far after shooting 66s on his first and third rounds, either side of a 73 on Friday, but appeared on course to register his best round of the week after picking up gains at the first and second before making four straight birdies between six and nine.

Donaldson, bidding for a third European Tour title, had been doing just enough to retain sole leadership at the Gary Player Country Club, with birdies at the fifth and seventh keeping him one shot clear, but a bogey at the ninth saw him fall into a share of the lead at 17 under alongside Garcia.

Dane Thomas Bjorn remained in the mix, one stroke off the lead at the turn after three birdies over the opening nine holes, while Zimbabwe's Brendon de Jonge was two shots further back through 10 holes.
