Gauld completes Sporting move
Sporting Lisbon have completed the signing of teenager Ryan Gauld from Dundee United on a six-year deal.
The Scottish Premiership club agreed an undisclosed fee for the highly-rated 18-year-old, believed to be around £3m, and he flew out to Portugal to finalise a move to Lisbon.
United had tried to hold onto the Scotland U21 international and rewarded him with a new deal in December, but could not turn down a big-money offer. Sporting also announced they had inserted a €60m release clause into the deal.
A statement on the Scottish club's website read: "Subject to the usual formalities, Dundee United confirm the transfer of Ryan Gauld to Sporting Lisbon, for an undisclosed fee, was completed last night.
"Everyone at the club wishes Ryan sincere best wishes in his future career."
Gauld broke into the first team last season, earning the nickname 'Mini Messi' with some impressive displays for the Terrors and had been linked with Real Madrid, Roma and Manchester United.
He returned to pre-season training with his United team-mates on Monday, but is preparing for a new career on the continent after his switch to Sporting.
You'll be able to watch Sporting Lisbon in Champions League action next season on Sky Sports 5 - the new home of European football.
