Giles drops Pietersen hint

England's one-day coach Ashley Giles has revealed the squad which travels to the West Indies next month will be the same one on duty at the World T20 in March.

And Giles has also hinted Kevin Pietersen, who has been named in his provisional 30-man World Twenty20 party, remains part of his plans for the prestigious tournament in Bangladesh.

Giles told Sky Sports News: "It looks likely, as we have discussed before, that we are going to pick our T20 Cup squad to go to the West Indies to play those one day games and there are opportunities for players to come in and do well.

"The big difference, the obvious difference, will be Ian Bell and Alastair Cook, both won't be in the West Indies so it is an opportunity for two guys at the top of the order to stake a claim."

When asked if Pietersen would be going to the West Indies, Giles said: "We have not picked that squad yet and my view on it has not changed since last time I was asked the question.

"We need to sit back and take stock. Obviously alongside (captain) Stuart Broad and the selectors we will have a look at our World Cup squad."

England travel to the Caribbean where they will play three ODIs from February 28 to March 5, they then play three Twenty20 internationals before the ICC World Twenty20 starts on March 16.

England begin their campaign against New Zealand in Chittagong on March 22.
