Northampton boss Aidy Boothroyd was fuming about the goal that consigned the Cobblers to a 1-0 loss and rued his side's luck.
Bradford top scorer Nahki Wells hit the winner shortly after the restart with his 10th of the campaign.
But Boothroyd hit back: "We matched them for long periods and then gave away a really soft goal," said Boothroyd. "We know what Bradford are all about, especially Wells and Hanson but when it came down to it we didn't deal with it.
"It was a very soft goal and a very direct one, we just didn't deal with a long ball. For long periods we were well in the game but Bradford are the form team at the moment, they're up there for a reason but we didn't impose ourselves on them.
"We're not getting the rub of the green at the moment and we've got a few injuries but that's what we've got a squad for. Every player has got to be at it but there's a little bit of work still to be done on the training pitch.
"We're not a team which should be getting beat 1-0 at home. I know it's only our second home defeat but if you're going to be successful you have to take points out of games like that."
