Gold: We are at a low point

David Gold has used Twitter to issue a rallying cry to the West Ham players who he hopes will steer the club out of the relegation zone.

The club's co-chairman describes the Hammers as currently being at a 'low point' in their history.

West Ham have suffered two cup humiliations this month, losing 5-0 at Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup and 9-0 on aggregate in defeat to Manchester City in the Capital One Cup semi-final.

They are 18th in the Premier League table and one point from safety following just one win from nine games in all competitions.

And Gold tweeted: "We are out of both cup competitions having been beaten 5-0 and 9-0.

"This is a low point in the history of our great club.

"We must re-group and prepare ourselves for a tough relegation battle, players are returning from injury and together we can survive."
