Gonalons aware of interest

Maxime Gonalons claims to be aware of interest from Napoli, but current employers Lyon are reluctant to let him go.

The highly-rated holding midfielder has been linked with a move away from his native France for some time.

Arsenal were reported to be keen at one stage, while Napoli have been leading the chase for the 24-year-old's signature since last summer.

A switch to Serie A is being mooted again during the winter transfer window, but Gonalons admits he is unsure what the immediate future holds for him.

He told OLTV: "Napoli are interested in me and everyone knows it.

"When a major European club wants you, you have to evaluate everything.

"In the next few weeks, we will talk with the president and the coach to find the best solution and see what happens.

"I can't say much more as it is necessary for all three parties to be satisfied."

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas claims no official approach for Gonalons has been received as yet.

He said: "There's nothing really to say. We will have to ask Maxime if he has been contacted by a club. From what I know, I have not been approached by anyone."

Club coach Remi Garde hopes that remains the case, with there a desire on his part to ensure that key men are not allowed to head for the exits midway through the 2013/14 campaign.

He added: "There will be no winter departure for Max. Maxime will not leave in the middle of the season, that is very simple."
