Gourcuff offered new deal

Lorient's legendary coach Christian Gourcuff has been offered a new deal by the club, but it is far from certain that he will sign.

The 58-year-old is in his third spell as coach of Les Merlus which has spanned over 20 years in total.

Gourcuff has been offered fresh terms by chairman Loic Fery, but he is known to be unsettled by the club's transfer policy having lost midfielder Mario Lemina to Marseille in the summer.

"I met Christian Gourcuff on Sunday for about one hour and a half. We talked about a lot of different things. We made a formal offer of a contract extension of two years to Christian Gourcuff," said Fery.

"The offer is on Christian's desk. Our wish is for him to make his decision in a fortnight. The contract is of the same frame to now."

However, Gourcuff said: "I have always stated the conditions to do my job are essential. I have nothing else to state."
