Grabban defends discussions

Bournemouth striker Lewis Grabban has defended his decision to open talks over a move to Brighton before staying with the Cherries.

The 26-year-old looked set to sign for Bournemouth's Sky Bet Championship rivals before changing his mind and signing a new deal with the club before the 1-1 draw with Watford on Saturday.

"You can't be blind to what is happening around you if you are doing well," he told BBC Radio Solent.

"What some people may not understand is that you have to see what someone else is saying.

"Footballers doing well, or in any aspect of life if you are doing well, you should be rewarded and that's what has probably happened here.

"I think now it's about working hard, keep going and try and get to the next level."

Grabban added: "I'm happy here and that's why I've signed a new deal.

Ultimately, I decided my future would be best here."
