Grand Slam exit for Lewis

Double world champion Adrian Lewis was knocked out of the Grand Slam of Darts after he slumped to a disappointing 5-2 loss against John Part.

Lewis was made to pay a heavy price for a host of missed doubles, leaving him two points adrift at the bottom of Group E with one just a clash against Gary Anderson left.

Anderson booked his spot in the knockout stages after coming back from 4-2 down to beat Tony O'Shea 5-4 and claim his second straight win in the competition in Wolverhampton.

The result means O'Shea and Part will now face each other in the final round of fixtures for the right to join Anderson in the last 16.

Anderson told Sky Sports: "I think Adie (Lewis) needs a wee break. He needs to get away for a few weeks, put his feet up and cut down on the exhibitions.

"He's a young lad and he shouldn't be tired so I think he's working too much, but he'll come back."

Elsewhere, Lakeside champion Christian Kist defeated fellow Dutchman Raymond van Barneveld 5-4 after the latter squandered three match darts at double top in the deciding leg.

In the other Group H clash local favourite Wayne Jones missed two match darts as he lost 5-4 to Mark Walsh.

Terry Jenkins got a first win under his belt in Group G as he saw off Martin Phillips 5-2 but Wes Newton tops the group after beating Wesley Harms 5-2.

In Group F, Paul Nicholson whitewashed Barrie Bates 5-0 to collect two much-needed points, while Andy Hamilton beat Brendan Dolan 5-1 to make it two wins from two.
