Green light for Rob's R's switch

Queens Park Rangers have completed the signing of England goalkeeper Robert Green on a two-year contract - and he will join them on July 1.

Green, who is currently on international duty at Euro 2012 where he is providing back-up to number one Joe Hart, will become an Rs player on July 1 when his contract with the Hammers expires.

The 32-year-old joined West Ham in a £2million move from Norwich in August 2006 and made over 200 appearances during his time at Upton Park.

QPR boss Mark Hughes is looking to reshape his squad to establish them in the Premier League after last season's relegation battle and sees Green as an important addition to his party.

"It was important we brought another quality keeper into the group," Hughes told the club's official website.

"Rob is obviously someone with vast experience at international and Premier League level and his pedigree speaks for itself.

"He's got all the characteristics of a top keeper and he'll be a huge addition for us who will stimulate the goalkeeping group, which can only be good for the squad as a whole."

Green added: "I'm delighted to be here. I'm excited about the challenge ahead and hugely encouraged by the direction in which the owners and Mark Hughes are looking to take the club.

"It's an exciting period for everybody connected to QPR and I can't wait to get started."

Green's arrival could see Paddy Kenny heading out of the Loftus Road exit door, with Leeds manager Neil Warnock linked with a move for the experienced shot-stopper.
