Ed De Gas will be prepared for the Ladbrokes St Leger following his excellent run in defeat at Royal Ascot last week.
A winner of his first three starts before finishing down the field in the Lingfield Derby Trial, Rae Guest's colt stepped up to two miles for the Queen's Vase.
Having travelled powerfully for a long way, his run petered out in the home straight, but he still ran with great credit to finish third behind the Queen's Estimate.
Guest feels his three-year-old will be better suited by the mile and three-quarters in the Leger at Doncaster in September.
"He's come out of Ascot in great form and we're just going to give him a couple of weeks off," said the Newmarket handler.
"After we bring him back we'll put him on a programme to have a look at the St Leger.
"He came there to win at Ascot and I think he just didn't stay the two miles at this point in his life.
"It was the first time for all of them over two miles, so he's run a great race."
