Guintoli has the edge

Sylvain Guintoli took his second World Superbikes pole position of the year as he topped the timesheets in Sepang on Saturday.

The Frenchman recorded a time of two minutes 3.002 seconds to finish 0.106secs ahead of championship leader Tom Sykes, with Davide Giugliano completing the front row.

Toni Elias and Marco Melandri are on the second row along with Loris Baz, who put in a good performance despite falling on one of his flying laps.

Eugene Laverty was next on the grid, clear of the quartet of Brits in Chaz Davies, Alex Lowes, Jonathan Rea and Leon Haslam. Spaniard David Salom rounded out the top 12.
