Hand operation for Hoggard

Leicestershire are set to be without their captain Matthew Hoggard for much of the next month, following his operation on a hand injury.

Veteran former England seamer Hoggard hurt himself last week in training and had surgery on his left hand.

Leicestershire coach Phil Whitticase told thecricketer: "How quickly he plays will be dependent upon how quickly he heals, but it's his non-bowling hand - which is a positive."

Hoggard suffered a similar injury last summer, missing two months back then after hurting his right hand.
