Hangeland delights in return
Fulham captain Brede Hangeland was delighted to return to the starting line-up for Tuesday's FA Cup victory over Norwich.
Centre-back Hangeland has been sidelined for three months after sustaining a back injury in October.
However, the talismanic defender completed a full 90 minutes as Fulham eased into the fourth round of the FA Cup, beating the Canaries 3-0 at Craven Cottage in their third round replay.
Hangeland will hope to bring stability to a Fulham defence which has conceded 46 times in 21 Premier League outing this season, leaving them languishing in 16th place, only one point clear of the relegation zone.
The Norway international admits spending time on the sidelines is not something he is accustomed to but returns with a vow to help Fulham retain their Premier League status.
"It's nice to be back." Hangeland told VG.
"It has been a tough time I have gone through, since I haven't been injured much in the past.
"Therefore, it felt particularly good to put on the jersey. I am now looking forward to assisting club and country."
Victory against Norwich saw Fulham set up a fourth-round FA Cup tie with Championship side Sheffield United; yet Hangeland's next task will be to shut out Premier League leaders Arsenal on Saturday as Rene Meulensteen's men visit the Emirates Stadium.
