Harbour Watch misses Criterion

Harbour Watch will not be putting his unbeaten record on the line at Newmarket on Saturday.

Richard Hannon's colt was a hugely impressive winner of his three juvenile starts, but has yet to make his three-year-old debut after an early-season setback ruled him out of the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket.

Connections are slowly getting the talented youngster back up to full speed, but he is not ready to make his comeback in the John Sunley Memorial Criterion Stakes.

David Redvers, racing manager for part-owners Qatar Racing, said: "I spoke to Richard (Hannon) jnr last night and he said the horse wasn't quite there and he wasn't going to run on Saturday.

"We gave him the entry just to have a look and we're getting there with him, but he's not ready to start off just yet.

"He is going in the right direction with his work, but I don't know where he's going to start back."
