Hatton targets Katsidis battle

Ricky Hatton will reportedly be fighting Australian Michael Katsidis in his comeback bout on November 24 in Manchester.

There had been widespread speculation over the identity of Hatton's opponent, with the fighter promising a big-name opponent.

Katsidis, 32, has enjoyed some success in the lightweight division, but has lost four of his last five bouts.

Katsidis defeated Kevin Mitchell at Upton Park two years ago and has also beaten Graham Earl, but sank to a wide points defeat to Ricky Burns on his last English sojourn and lost a light-welterweight bout to Albert Mensah in April. He does, however, come with a record of 23 stoppages from his 28 wins.

It is thought Hatton will return in the welterweight division, with a world title fight against Paul Malignaggi in 2013 believed to be the ultimate goal.

The last of Hatton's 45 career wins came against Malignaggi in 2008. He has not fought professionally since being knocked out in the second round in his defeat to Manny Pacquiao in May 2009.
