Hawkins too hot for Davis

Defending champion Barry Hawkins won his opening match of this year's Snooker Shoot Out in Blackpool, seeing off Steve Davis.

Hawkins kicked off a busy night of action, which also served up wins for the likes of Mark Allen, Michael Holt, Ricky Walden and Mark Williams.

If shocks are possible over a frame then Stuart Bingham's loss to Anthony Hamilton was one, while the ever-popular Jimmy White was beaten by Thepchaiya Un-Nooh.

The action continues on Saturday, with the winners joining Friday night's victors for Sunday's finals day.
