Hayes: Birmingham's to lose
Chelsea Ladies manager Emma Hayes insists the FA Women’s Super League title is Birmingham’s to lose ahead of the visit of the league leaders on Sunday.
Birmingham lead the FA WSL on goal difference from Hayes' side, but have played two games fewer ahead of this weekend's top-of-the-table clash.
Birmingham manager David Parker has won the FA Cup, and twice finished runner-up in both the FA WSL and Continental Cup during his three years in charge.
And Hayes believes the continuity Birmingham have maintained under Parker's stewardship makes them outright favourites to become champions this season.
\"Birmingham are the favourites for me, that's clear. I think it's very much their title to lose now,\" Hayes told Sky Sports.
\"They've got the experience of being in this position and they're a seasoned team who have been together a while.
\"You can't buy success. A couple of their players might have left from last season but the core has been there for a while. You've seen so far in their form why they have been the outstanding team this season.
\"Marcus Bignot has, along with David, been the architect for Birmingham's success and he's done some really good things for the women's game.\"
Hayes added: \"I still think we are very much a work in progress. This season has always been about achieving something beyond this year. For us, top four remains our objective.\"
