Heat sound play-off warning
Guildford Heat sent out a warning to Newcastle ahead of next week's play-off quarter-final clash between the two with a 100-74 victory.
The Eagles were without key quartet Paul Gause, Andy Thomson, Charles Smith and Joe Chapman through injury and they were badly missed as an inexperienced side slumped to their fourth successive league defeat.
Guildford, who face top-ranked Newcastle in the first leg of their quarter-final on Friday having finished in the eighth and last play-off position, were paced by Frank Holmes, who poured in 22 points in the victory.
Elsewhere today, Cheshire Jets secured sixth spot with a 98-77 triumph over Sheffield Sharks, who slip to seventh.
Kai Williams top-scored with 25 points as five Cheshire players contributed 17 or more points in the victory, which means the Jets will now face third-placed Worcester Wolves in the play-offs and Sheffield take on second-placed Leicester Riders.
Fifth-placed Glasgow Rocks, meanwhile, warmed up for their play-off clash with Plymouth Raiders by defeating eliminated
Durham Wildcats 87-66.
