Henderson joins Centurions

Championship club Leigh Centurions have signed former Wakefield centre or second-rower Kevin Henderson for a second time.

Torquay-born Henderson, 31, is the brother of Catalan Dragons hooker Ian and Sheffield Eagles hooker Andrew and played alongside both of them for Scotland in the 2008 World Cup.

Henderson, who had a spell at Leigh in 2005 and has recently been playing in France with Montpellier, is joining the Centurions to the end of the season and plugs the gap caused by the retirement of Ricky Bibey.

Leigh coach Paul Rowley said: "We are operating on a squad of 18 players and due to Ricky Bibey's retirement and a number of other injuries, we're really struggling for numbers so Kevin's signing couldn't have come at a better time.

"Kevin brings a wealth of experience to the team and is a very highly thought of and respected player."

Leigh chief executive Trevor Barton said: "The circumstances leading to this signing are sad and I would like to pay tribute to Ricky for his courage and commitment to Leigh Centurions."
