Hewat joins Brumbies
Former Waratahs back Peter Hewat has joined the injury-ravaged Brumbies until the end of the season.
Hewat, 34, has spent the past two seasons in Japan with Suntory after three years with Aviva Premiership club London Irish.
With injuries to key playmakers, Matt Toomua and Christian Lealiifano, Hewat has been enlisted for his experience and to guide the team's younger stars, Robbie Coleman and Zack Holmes.
During his time with the Waratahs between 2005 and 2007, Hewat claimed 50 Super Rugby caps making him the most experienced player in the young Brumbies backline.
He also broke Scott Staniforth's try-scoring and Matt Burke's points-scoring record in his debut season.
"Peter offers plenty of experience to our younger players and we are pleased to have him for the rest of the season," Brumbies coach Jake White said.
