Hibernian v Kilmarnock preview

Hibernian entertain Kilmarnock at Easter Road on Saturday lunchtime in what is effectively a play-off decider.

The home side must win if their are to avoid the spectre of a two-leg showdown with a Championship side - one of either Hamilton, Falkirk or Queen of the South - while a draw will be enough to guarantee Kilmarnock another season in the Premiership.

Michael Nelson returns for Hibs having been banned against Ross County in midweek.

Kevin Thomson is struggling with a thigh strain, however, while Paul Heffernan (thigh) and Paul Hanlon (knee) are both out.

Kris Boyd will be fit for Allan Johnston's side despite limping off with a swollen ankle after scoring the winner against against St Mirren on Wednesday.

The veteran striker said: "That goal is probably the most important goal I've scored all season because it gives us the best opportunity going into Saturday.

"We've got the win so now Hibs have to beat us. That is the best position we could put ourselves in."

Rugby Park boss Allan Johnston will be without the suspended James Fowler after he was dismissed late on during the 1-0 win over St Mirren.

Long-term absentees Greg Kiltie (ankle) and Darren Barr (hip) will play no part.
