Higgins welcomes Ronnie return
John Higgins believes it would have been "crazy" for Ronnie O'Sullivan to miss the World Championship.
O'Sullivan confirmed on Tuesday he would end his break from the sport and return to defend his title at the Crucible in April.
There had been doubts over whether he would play, and when he does step out in the Sheffield theatre it will be on the back of no serious matches in almost a year.
Scot Higgins' hopes of a fifth world title might have been dented by his fellow four-time champion O'Sullivan's comeback.
But he could not imagine O'Sullivan giving the 17-day event a swerve.
Higgins said on worldsnooker.com: "It's obviously good for the sport with Ronnie coming back to play, to defend the title.
"It would have been crazy for him not to come back.
"Personally I couldn't care less what Ronnie O'Sullivan would do but it's good for the sport."
