High demand for Magic Weekend

Organisers will open the upper tier of the Etihad Stadium's East Stand for the opening day of the Magic Weekend after high demand for tickets.

A further 2,500 tickets went on sale on Thursday for the First Utility Super League programme on Saturday, May 17, which culminates in the clash between leaders Leeds Rhinos and reigning champions Wigan Warriors.

All hospitality packages for the Saturday have sold out and officials say general ticket sales are strong for the two-day event, which began in 2007 and was held in Cardiff and Edinburgh before settling in its current Manchester home in 2012.

An aggregate crowd of 62,042 watched the 2013 Magic Weekend matches at the Etihad Stadium.

Super League marketing director Mark Foster said. "The opening day of the event is already guaranteed to be the best-attended Saturday in Magic Weekend history."
