Hill pleased with Dale point

Rochdale boss Keith Hill felt his side were well worth a point in the 1-1 draw at Southend.

Dale went in front when Jamie Allen fired home in the 14th minute, and then Shrimpers centre-back Luke Prosser somehow stopped them doubling their lead with a stunning double block on the goal-line from Scott Hogan and Ian Henderson.

But Southend grabbed the equaliser on the stroke of half-time through Kevan Hurst, and they came closest to winning the game in the second half when Barry Corr headed against the crossbar.

"Southend's goal came against the run of play, but they put us under a bit of pressure in the second half so a draw was fair," said Hill.

"If we had got the second goal then it would have been difficult for Southend to come back and maybe we should have had a penalty when their defender (Prosser) looked as though he may have handled the ball on the line.

"I'm not going to complain about it though because it would've been a difficult decision to give and you shouldn't award a penalty unless you're 100 per cent certain."
