Holt has Newmarket theory
Number Theory may take in a Listed contest at Newmarket following his fine effort in the Betfred Ebor.
Trainer John Holt could run his stable star at HQ next month before his Ascot target as Number Theory has taken his York exertions really well.
The five-year-old was a game third under top weight of 9st 9lb behind Tiger Cliff at York on Saturday as he took minor honours in the valuable staying handicap for the second successive year.
"He's come out of it really well, he's spot on. The handicapper has put him up 2lb for that run so he's on a mark of 109 now," said Holt.
"There's a Listed race at Newmarket (Jockey Club Rose Bowl, September 26). We might just have a look at that as he's come out of York so well. He's also in the stayers' race on Champions Day at Ascot.
"He'll have one of possibly two more runs and that will be it for the year."
