Home Farm ruled out of Gold run

The gambled-on Home Farm is out of the Stewart Family Gold Cup at Cheltenham on Saturday after an unsatisfactory scope.

Irish trainer Arthur Moore is hoping the six-year-old will have recovered enough to run at Leopardstown over Christmas where he holds an entry in the Paddy Power Chase on December 27.

"He didn't come up with a clean scope this morning. It wasn't as clean as I would have liked so we're not going to risk sending him over," said the Naas handler.

"It's disappointing, but we're lucky we had it done. He should be back at Christmas for Leopardstown hopefully."

Having been a 12/1 chance when betting re-opened for the race after Monday's declaration stage, Home Farm had been the subject of persistent support until this announcement and was as short as 6/1 in places.

In his absence, Colour Squadron has emerged as the new clear favourite with Sky Bet at 5/1 from 6/1.
