Horne handed Scotland start

Scotland head coach Vern Cotter has made four changes to his starting XV for Saturday's Test match against Canada at the BMO Field in Toronto.

Two of the four changes are enforced, with lock Grant Gilchrist and centre Peter Horne replacing the injured Jim Hamilton (ankle) and Duncan Taylor (centre).Horne, 24, will be making his first start for Scotland, having made two substitute appearances off the bench on last year's summer tour of South Africa, while Gilchrist will be making his third start and sixth appearance in total.

The remaining changes see Kelly Brown and Moray Low replace last week's debutant back-row Blair Cowan and prop Geoff Cross, who start on the bench. Cotter has made two further changes to the substitutes, with Alex Allan and Pat MacArthur replaced by Kyle Traynor and the uncapped Kevin Bryce. The match is the second of four Test matches in the summer series with Scotland looking to build on last weekend's 24-6 win over USA in Houston. Cotter said: "We know we have a good team against us that are very attack-minded. "They carry a lot, they'll run from their own half and they have very big ball carriers that get good support, which makes them a hard team to steal ball from when they start going forward. "We're anticipating longer phases of play so we'll have to stay disciplined, and we'll have to keep our structure and our shape in defence. "Heads up rugby is something we will be encouraging at all times, in attack and defence. "It's important that the players are always taking on information and using that to seek, create and exploit opportunities. "We've had a little bit more time to work together, look at some new combinations and increase the cohesion of the team so it's important we step up."
