Hudson set for Gloucester switch

Gloucester have signed lock James Hudson from Newcastle for the 2013-14 season.

The 31-year-old England Saxon has spent four years at the Falcons and has made in excess of 100 Aviva Premiership appearances.

"I felt that now was the time for a new challenge and I've always enjoyed playing at Kingsholm as an away player," Hudson said.

Meanwhile, Gloucester's appeal against the six-week suspension given to hooker Darren Dawidiuk for his tip tackle on Bath lock Dave Attwood has been dismissed. Dawidiuk is free to play from April 22.
