Hughton feels red was correct
Norwich boss Chris Hughton believes the decision to send Wes Brown off in his side's 0-0 draw at Sunderland was correct, insisting the tackle was "reckless".
The visitors kept their second away clean sheet in succession, a task that was helped thanks to the late dismissal of the former England defender, a decision that Hughton feels was fully justified.
"I'm not sure how much contact was made," he told Sky Sports.
"But from where I was it looked to be a correct decision, and was certainly reckless."
The result means the Canaries have been beaten just once in their last five league matches, a record that pleases Hughton, even if he feels his side may have taken more from the Stadium of Light.
He added: "In general when you are away from home, against a good side buoyed by recent results, a draw is a good result.
"I thought we were the side most likely to score on the break, but overall a draw was a fair result.
"We had clearer chances, and if we showed more quality in the final third we could have come away with three points."
