Hull FC to manage veterans

Hull FC will not be pushing Richard Horne and Gareth Ellis in training in a bid to ensure they are fully fit in February.

The pair will be key performers for the Black and Whites in the new Super League season and the club are keen to cut down the time they are on the sidelines.

Bearing in mind Horne and Ellis are the wrong side of 30 assistant coach Andy Last says the duo be given extra days off to make sure they do not sustain any unwanted niggles.

"What we are conscious of with Richard Horne and people like Gareth Ellis who are more experienced, is we want to make sure they are ready to play come February," Last told the Hull Daily Mail.

"We know they've got the miles in their legs and we are monitoring their loads. They may do one or two tough sessions, then we back off them for a day before bringing them back out.

"What we want is them firing on game day so we will manage them accordingly."
