Huntingdon and Ayr both clear to race

This afternoon's National Hunt meetings at Huntingdon and Ayr will both go ahead as planned.

Forecast heavy rain had placed both meetings in some doubt, but the precipitation did not arrive in the forecast quantities.

Huntingdon clerk of the course Sulekha Varma tweeted: "Huntingdon: Racing Goes Ahead. 5mm rain in past 24hrs. Heavy ground."

The first of eight races takes place there at 12.10pm.

The going is also heavy at Ayr, where the scheduled inspection was cancelled.

All-weather cards also take place in the UK today at Southwell and Wolverhampton, while Meydan stages the first UAE card of the year, a week before the Dubai Carnival gets underway at the same track.
