Huntingdon on flood alert

Officials at Huntingdon have called a precautionary inspection for 8am on Christmas Day due to the threat of flooding.

The track are scheduled to race on Boxing Day and while the course is raceable at present, the Environment Agency has warned of the possibility of flooding at the nearby Alconbury and Ellington Brooks.

Clerk of the course Sulekha Varma said on Christmas Eve: "We got a call about the flood alert at 6.10 this morning and we have been told flooding is possible.

"The track is heavy but is perfectly raceable at present, so we need to see what happens over the next 24 hours."
