Birmingham have opted against negotiations over the permanent transfer of Erik Huseklepp following the completion of the striker's loan spell.
The Norway international arrived at St Andrew's on an emergency deal at the end of February, with Pompey keen to lower their wage bill in the aftermath of going into administration.
But the striker failed to really hit form during his time with Blues, scoring twice in 11 appearances, seven of which coming off the bench.
Manager Chris Hughton has now decided not to turn Huseklepp's loan into a permanent arrangement, with the 27-year-old back at Fratton Park.
It is highly unlikely, however, he will be playing for Pompey next season, with the south-coast club still looking to cut costs following their relegation to League One.
Huseklepp has been linked with a return to former club SK Brann in Norway.
