Ibenfeldt move inspired by love
New Southend signing Mads Ibenfeldt has revealed he had more than one reason for looking to start a fresh in England.
The veteran defender has a wealth of experience playing in Scandinavia for the likes of Akandemisk, Bronshoj, Silkeborg and NFC and secured a one-year deal at Roots Hall after impressing Phil Brown with some rock-solid trial displays.
"I'm very pleased, it's been a hectic couple of weeks, but I'm here and pleased to finally sign," he told Blues Player. "I've got a very good impression of the guys and the manager - they have made me feel very welcome and helped me with all the things you need when you are new.
"I knew of the manager and heard lots of good things about him, so I'm very pleased. Many people think I'm very strong, but I'm also good with my feet, so it's a good combination.
"Hopefully we can get promotion. It seems everyone is very optimistic and comfortable, so I'm very excited and looking forward to joining the team
"My girlfriend moved over here with her company, I'm 29 now and I always dreamed about going abroad, so I think this is the time for getting an adventure."
