Inch edges closer to Oaks bid

Peter Chapple-Hyam is keen to find out whether Inchila can develop into a realistic contender for the Investec Oaks.

Placed on both of her two starts as a juvenile, the daughter of Dylan Thomas looked much improved as she comfortably beat her rivals in the hands of Jamie Spencer in a fillies' maiden over a mile and a quarter at Newbury on Friday.

Inchila is a 50/1 shot for the Oaks at Epsom on June 6 and her next run will tell connections whether she deserves a tilt at Classic glory.

Chapple-Hyam said: "She'll probably go for an Oaks trial now, but I've one or two fillies to run first and we'll wait and see what happens with them and sort things out."
