Injuries mount up for Reading

Reading are once again counting the cost of a mounting injury list following Tuesday's 2-0 win over Middlesbrough.

The Royals, already without Wayne Bridge and Jem Karacan, saw Hal Robson-Kanu leave the field with blood gushing from his nose while Danny Guthrie suffered a recurrence of his calf injury and skipper Jobi McAnuff hurt his ankle near the end.

Key midfielder Guthrie will be a major concern to manager Nigel Adkins as he could struggle to feature in the play-offs if Reading get there.

"We've had walking wounded, the captain led by example and there are so many to talk about," said Adkins.

"Danny Guthrie came off, Hal got a horrendous blow to the face, but several players had a right good go and there was a real togetherness."
