Victoria Azarenka is a doubt for the French Open after pulling out of the Internazionali BNL d'Italia in Rome with a shoulder injury.
The world number one, who has won four titles already this season, withdrew despite beating Shahar Peer 6-1 6-2 on Wednesday night.
She had been due to play Dominika Cibulkova in round three on Thursday, but the Slovak will now receive a walkover into the quarter-finals.
With the French Open less than two weeks away - it starts on May 27 - the Belarusian will be anxious to learn the full extent of her injury problem.
A runner-up in Madrid last weekend, Azarenka is among the favourites with the bookies to win at Roland Garros.
