Injury sidelines Thornton

Robert Thornton is set for a spell on the sidelines after chipping a bone in his back and breaking a rib in a fall at Chepstow on Friday.

The rider parted company with the Alan King-trained Say When at the fourth fence in the extended two-mile novices' hurdle.

He was taken to hospital for precautionary X-rays which revealed his rib injury and damage to one of his vertebrae.

King said: "He's got a small chip on the C4 in his spine. He's also got a broken rib and they are going to keep him in for a couple of days.

"I spoke to him this morning and he was still on a board and in a bit of pain, but the main thing is he's going to be OK."
