Inverness v Ross Co preview

Inverness Caley Thistle will be without Richie Foran (shoulder) and James Vincent for the game against Ross County on New Year's Day.

This will be the first full game between the two this season after their October meeting was abandoned at half-time due to floodlight failure in Dingwall.

Since that ill-fated Friday night, the clubs have had contrasting fortunes. County have lost eight of their last nine - and are without a win for almost three months - whereas Caley have lost just two of their last ten despite the departure of manager Terry Butcher to Hibernian.

New manager John Hughes said: "We'll have to be on top of our game so we can't afford to let our standards drop. Bragging rights are at stake.

"I'm really looking forward to it. Any team in the SPFL can beat each other so we'll need to play with our heads rather than our hearts. That's vitally important and it applies to me too."

County will be without full-back Mihael Kovacevic, who has returned to Croatia to look after his father, who is poorly.

Manager Derek Adams is looking to bring in some players early in the transfer window, but will have to rely on the squad that went down narrowly at Aberdeen for the short trip over the Kessock Bridge.

He said: "We're close to signing players in January, whether it's in time or not for the St Johnstone game then we'll wait and see. It's too tight for the Inverness game because of the restrictions with international clearance."
