Isner and Roddick advance

John Isner and Andy Roddick will meet in the semi-finals of the ATP BB&T Atlanta Open after both men won their quarter-finals on Friday.

Fourth seed Roddick needed just 73 minutes to post a 6-3 6-4 triumph over compatriot Michael Russell in the first match of the evening session in Georgia.

He converted two of four break points and recorded 12 aces to remain on course for his second title of the season following his Eastbourne win last month.

Standing in his way on Saturday, though, will be top seed Isner, who saw off 19-year-old wild card Jack Sock 7-6 (9/7) 6-4 in the rain-delayed late match.

Earlier on Friday, Luxembourg's Gilles Muller - seeking his first ATP Tour crown - clinched his place in the last four with a 6-4 6-4 success against Australia's Matthew Ebden.

Muller will face Go Soeda in Saturday's first semi-final after the eighth seed from Japan cruised past countryman Kei Nishikori, the third seed, 6-2 6-1.
