John Gosden's Izzi Top (6-4) was a comfortable winner of the Group One Barclays Bank Ireland Pretty Polly Stakes at the Curragh on Sunday.
The four-year-old Pivotal filly looked a top-level winner in waiting after impressing in the Middleton Stakes at York in May and she duly registered her first Group One success under William Buick.
Dermot Weld's Sapphire was sent off the 10-11 favourite and she took them along, but Izzi Top was always going well in her slipstream.
It was between the two fillies inside the last quarter-mile and it was Izzi Top who proved best suited by the conditions, running out a length-and-a-quarter winner in the end.
Izzi Top was third in last year's Epsom Oaks - her only previous start at the highest level - and came into this race unbeaten in three subsequent outings.
Gosden had voiced concerns earlier in the week about the rain-softened conditions in Ireland, but his filly handled the testing ground with aplomb to continue the yard's excellent campaign.
Sapphire had not previously been tested in Group One company, but looked ready for the step up in class when annihilating her rivals on her seasonal reappearance at Cork.
She enjoyed the run of the race out in front under Pat Smullen, but simply had no answer when the winner quickened to the lead.
David Simcock's I'm A Dreamer finished third, with Up completing a four-runner field which was decimated following the earlier defections of Was, Maybe and Bible Belt.
