Jacob banned for easing down
Daryl Jacob is set to miss the ride aboard Kauto Stone in the King George VI Chase after receiving a 10-day ban.
The jockey will be sidelined for the busy Christmas period after being landed with the suspension by the racecourse stewards at Wincanton on Thursday.
Riding the well-backed Ulis De Vassy, Jacob was disputing the lead in the Racing Welfare Fox-Pitt Handicap Hurdle when he appeared to mistake a marker pole 50 yards from the finish for the winning post and momentarily eased his mount down.
Although it seemed unlikely that his mount would have got the better of the battle with 9/2 winner Quaddick Lake, the stewards still ruled that he had failed to ride out "on a horse that could have been placed first" and banned him for 10 days.
Jacob declined to comment on the stewards' decision, but the ban which runs December 20 to January 1 includes his ride aboard Kauto Stone in the King George VI Chase and the Coral Welsh National at Chepstow on the following day.
