Jamesie eyeing Curragh return

Saturday's Renaissance Stakes winner Jamesie is likely to return to the Curragh for the Derrinstown Stud Flying Five Stakes on September 14.

The six-year-old struck gold at the Dubai Carnival at Meydan earlier in the year and having run a number of creditable races in defeat, David Marnane's sprinter was certainly not winning out of turn when narrowly denying multiple Group One winner Gordon Lord Byron in Saturday's Group Three contest.

Marnane said: "We were delighted and he definitely deserved to it having run well in all those races all year. Thankfully it was his turn on Saturday.

"It was his third run in 16 days in stakes company on good, fast racing ground, so it was a good performance and he stuck his neck out to the line and touched it out.

"He won in Dubai earlier in the year, so he's having a good season and we'll probably go back to the Curragh for the Flying Five now.

"Five furlongs is probably a bit sharp for him, but it's a stiff five at the Curragh, it's a good pot and we'll have a crack at it.

"A little bit of ease in the ground would probably help his cause."
