Janowicz reaches last eight
Third seed Jerzy Janowicz cruised into the quarter-finals of the Stockholm Open with a straight-sets victory over Guillermo Garcia-Lopez.
The Pole was beaten by Andy Murray in a dramatic Wimbledon semi-final this summer but cruised past Garcia-Lopez 6-2 6-1 to set up a meeting with either fifth-seeded Ernests Gulbis or Igor Sijsling.
Joining Janowicz in the last eight is sixth seed Benoit Paire after the Frenchman dispatched Pablo Carrena Busta 6-4 6-4.
Paire could meet home hopeful Joachim Johansson if the Stockholm native can find a way past second seed Milos Raonic of Canada on Thursday.
In Wednesday's remaining first-round ties, Jarkko Niemenen needed three sets to beat Benjamin Becker 6-3 3-6 7-6 (7/3) while Fernando Verdasco recovered to oust eighth seed Ivan Dodig 6-7 (7/2) 6-1 6-4.
France's Kenny De Schepper eliminated another Swede in clinching a 6-4 5-7 7-5 win over Markus Eriksson.
