The Cheshire Jets sealed their place in the British Basketball League play-offs with an 80-68 victory over Glasgow Rocks on Sunday.
The win meant the result between Mersey Tigers and MK Lions was irrelevant since neither side could claim a play-off berth.
The Tigers had beaten the Newcastle Eagles 48 hours earlier and saw off the Lions 94-86, but it was not enough.
The battle for second spot will go right down to the wire after the Plymouth Raiders beat Worcester Wolves 94-80.
