Johnson upbeat despite defeat

Yeovil manager Gary Johnson felt his side were worthy of a point in their 1-0 home defeat to Sheffield United on Saturday.

In the end, a bullet header from Blades captain Neill Collins 10 minutes after the break was all that separated the two sides at Huish Park.

It condemned the Glovers to a fourth successive league defeat, but Johnson said: "Sometimes you've got to take the emotion of losing the game out of it. We've had three poor defeats against Bournemouth, MK Dons and Leyton Orient, but I thought the lads gave it a real go here.

"We kept the ball against a good team and created a few good opportunities. It's still a defeat, but we played well and I thought we did enough to get something.

"I'm encouraged by the performance and we're finding our football feet. It's difficult to play against Sheffield Utd and keep the ball and, although it was a slow start, we got into the game and had a few occasions where we were driving at their defence.

"The lads are disappointed but I've got to pick them up because I thought it was a proper footballing performance from us. We got beat with two or three set pieces at Leyton Orient. People hold their hands up and admit it is their fault, but we're a little bit naive and need to learn from it."
